In his 1/1/2015 post Phil laid out the investment cases for CNW, IR and RCL, which he will overview at the next OTM club meeting on January 12th. All of those securities have calculated Intrinsic Values (IVs) that are above current price, and they are all BUY status on the OTM technical model.
At the meeting yesterday the question was raised about the specific calculation used to determine Intrinsic Value. There are a number of different approaches — the code for the one presently used (I am happy to refine or improve it) is noted below. It takes the next 10 years of discounted earnings and adds it to a discounted terminal value based on Enterprise to EBITDA ratio.
A useful article on what to look for in a value stock. Helps you understand what to put in a screener.
A guide to creating stock investing strategies, from the AAII.
A very interesting guide on building your own personal portfolio from the American Association of Individual Investors.
This is a very valuable guide. Easy read and comprehensive. I like the AAII for basic investing education. Not wild about their portfolios, but good for education.
